Tannaz Tabatabaee wins best support-actress award at Iran gala

Tannaz Tabatabaee wins award for best actress in supporting role at the 11th Iran film critics and screenwriters gala.

Tannaz Tabatabaee has received the award for the best actress in a supporting role at the 11th edition of the Iran film critics and screenwriters gala.

Announcing the winners recently, the organizers said Tabatabaee won the award for her appearance in ‘Villa Residents’ directed by Monir Qeidi.

Born in 1983, Tabatabaee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater Directing. Her debut movie was ‘I Saw Your Dad Last Night Aida’ directed by Rasoul Sadr-Ameli in 2004.

After playing a role in the TV series ‘The Forbidden Fruit’ in 2007 she became a well-known figure and then appeared in a number of movies, such as ‘Nose’, ‘The Music Box’, ‘My Child’, ‘Parinaz’, ‘The Orange Suit’, ‘Hush! Girls Don’t Scream’, ‘Hard Makeup’, ‘The Resident of the Middle Floor’, ‘Crazy Rook’, and ‘Death of the Fish’ from 2007 to 2014.

Tabatabaee has also taken part in some TV series, including ‘In the Eye of the Storm’, ‘Open Parenthesis’, and ‘Heart of Ice’ from 2006 to 2012.

She won the Best Actress in a Supporting Role Award from the Celebration of Iran's Cinematic Critics and Writers for ‘Sounds’ in 2009 and the Celebration’s Diploma of Honor for the Best Actress in a Leading Role for ‘Salve’ in 2011.

Tabatabaee was also nominated for the Best actress in a Leading Role award for her appearance in ‘The Sound and the Fury’ at the 34th edition of Fajr Film Festival.

Her performance in 'Crazy Rook' gave her a nomination for the Best Actress in a Leading role at the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival. Tabatabaee has also received awards for her appearance in 'Hush! Girls Don't Scream'.

‘Villa Residents’, produced by Saeid Malekan, chronicles events facing wives of Iran army commanders at the time of the Iraq-imposed war on Iran. It is filmed in residential villas for army forces in southern Iran and set in Persian calendar years between 1362 and 1363 (over 30 years ago).
